In the terrifying tradition of Dean Koontz...

Fleeing the violence and crime of life in the city, architect Laura Kane and her five year old daughter Christy move to an exclusive planned community deep in the untouched mountain wilderness of the Smoky Mountains. Legend has it that their home is built on holy ground. Other legends tell of hideous beasts that roam the mountainside, Yeti-like creatures so terrifying that no one has ever dared disturb their sanctuary… until now.

First there are random acts of vandalism, then small pets begin to disappear, and then men go into the woods and don’t come back. When Christy’s nightmares begin to suggest that she can actually communicate with the creatures who are wreaking such havoc on their small and vulnerable community, Laura is terrified. Because Christy’s dreams tell her that the monsters are coming for her next.

And she is right.

Sanctuary is a suspense-filled tale of love, courage and redemption that will take you in its grip from the first page and leave you breathless by the last. Because sometimes the real monsters are the ones you can’t escape, no matter how far you run.

The plot line went along rather well, the characters were thought out so that you learned enough about them to feel like they mattered.
I read this on the version and there were a lot of errors.
I thought this book was about a Sasquatch but it wasn't, I was disappointed at the violence in the book. There was some romance. The ending was not expected. The writer writes well.
WOW Donna Ball can certainly tell a great story!

I love the Raine Stockton series and want to move to Lady Bug Farm - I am a fan of this author's style and gotta say - she does suspense just as well as she does sagas and romance and mysteries!

GET IT - READ IT!
This was the second book I read by Donna Ball (Shattered was the first) and it was very different from Shattered. There was little swearing (if any) and there was no sexual content. It was a little gruesome but not so much that it should scare you off.

I loved the main character, Laura, and her daughter Christy. Laura was smart and not at all a dimwit (which I hate). Sam, another main character was a cop who was drawn to Laura & Christy. There was some romance but it did not interfere with the mystery (I am not too crazy about love stories in a mystery but this was done well).

There was a paranormal aspect to the story but I don't want to give that away. You are also lead to believe that there are "monsters" living in the hills. While I am not a fan of that genre there is a twist there as well. I read this after returning from vacationing on the top of a hill in northern NC I am glad that I read this AFTER coming home. I am sure there are mountains in TN & NC that have never been walked on.

Overall, a fast paced enjoyable book with characters you liked & you didn't want to put this book down until you finished it. I look forward to reading Donna Ball's other books.
I have read almost every Bigfoot book kindle offers. This was a standout with well defined character development, an actual plot and attention to detail. Will definitely look at other books by this author.
I didn't do scary stories, but I do like mysteries and this story is both. I have read several of Donna's series and decided to give this book a try. This is an excellent story that I couldn't put down, Though I couldn't read the scary parts at night. A single mother and her child move to an upscale new development then pets and people start being killed. This story ask a lot of questions regarding the killers. That's all I'm going to say.
The book begins with a mother making a move from the city to an upscale housing development in the Smoky Mountains. You can't help but think she's made a mistake by designing so many large, glass windows in the house. It turns out she might have. From a budding romance with the sheriff to dreams she seems to share with her daughter it doesn't take long for the action to begin.
This is a very good read that I highly recommend. If you like worrying about what might be lurking in the dark just beyond the reach of the light then this book is for you. It's easy to read and will not disappoint.
